Doubt

The folly of man is not hunger for power,
Nor wealth, nor the thirst for unwavering clout.
It’s the perilous pride that builds the great tower—
The fate of the fool who has banished all doubt.
For few things are deadlier than minds set in stone,
Unyielding, convinced that they know what is right.
History beckons through ruins and crushed bone:
Certainty wages the bloodiest fight.
We all long to live in a world, black and white,
But reality is rarely so simple and clear,
The ones who concede they may not have sight
Often see beyond the dogma others hold dear.
Oh, what a mess we make with our minds,
When we build our beliefs into unyielding shrines.
Question your views, and one day you’ll find—
Partial truths blind us more than do outright lies.
