(A Response to “Nowhere Man”)
Nowhere Man, no point of view,
Knows not where he’s going to,
Isn’t he a bit like you and me?
Now Here Man just lets it go,
Needs no place and has no goal,
Yet somehow, he is always where he needs to be.
Nowhere Man, please listen,
You don’t know what you’re missing,
Drifting through a life that passes you by.
Now Here Man, he misses none,
He hears the breeze, he feels the sun,
And greets each fleeting moment with a quiet sigh.
Nowhere Man, the world is yours,
Yet you fight to keep the doors
locked against the way things come and go.
Now Here Man holds nothing tight,
Yet the world bends to his light,
For only open minds can ever know.
Nowhere Man, can you see me?
Or just what you want to see?
Blinded by a mind casting disguise.
But Now Here Man sees all things clear,
No walls of thought, no tinted mirror,
Just life revealed before unclouded eyes.
Nowhere Man, can you see me?
Or only what you choose to see?
Are you lost in who you “should” be?
Now Here Man, he’s free at last,
Not weighed down by future, past,
Right here, right now—he needs no key.
Smiling at the world he sees, for nobody.
Living with nowhere to be, for nobody.
Trusting in the path unseen, for nobody.
