The infinite

To confine the infinite into comprehension,

This is the role of philosophy and religion.

Though words cannot carry you the entire way,

They’ll serve as a compass to the other shore of the bay.

Alas, we must take caution, lest we confuse,

The map for the territory, then it’s wisdom we lose.

The mind cannot translate what’s meant for the soul,

But still it aims to decipher, manage and control.

This is the danger of man’s interference,

When divine invocation turns into religious adherence.

If we give name and form to celestial visage,

Is the mind making God into man’s own image?

We have taken the Word and stuck on veneers,

Constructing fences of notions around limitless frontiers.

But the truth is not hidden, just buried beneath

The layers of interpretation our ancestors bequeath.

If we pick up a shovel and dig deep, we may find

The answers we seek do not stem from the mind.
